You Rock My Heart
St Valentine is approaching if you celebrate it or not I wanted to share with you little something I have made for my husband. So happens we celebrate our wedding anniversary day before the madness so I always make a special card for him. This year it will be 12 years since our wedding and still our love grows ;).
To make my card I used:
- White cardstock for the base measuring 20×20 cm;
- Designer papers- Simple Stories December documented- “Red Chevron”, Fancy Pants “Caroling”, and “Funky Vintage” from Dovecraft;
- Tim Holtz Alternations dies “Hardware Findings” and “Tiny Tabs and Tags”.
Other materials used:
- Ranger Distress Paint- “black soot”, “broken china”, “picket fence”, “weathered wood”, “mustard seed”.
- Golden acrylic paint- “Quinacridone Burnt Orange” and “Transparent Red Iron Oxide”.
- Paper Artsy- Aquamarine Treasure Gold;
- Stencils- Kesi’art “Chevrons” and TCW “Mini Hexagons”;
- Stamps- Aladine “script stamp”, Kesi’art “ Hello Life”, “Never Say Never”;
- Glue,glue dots, 3D foam, Rayher adhesive Velcro dots, black board metal heart, pair of old earrings, chain, furry sticky heart embellishment, letters, Tim Holtz “ChitChat” sticky words, , white, grey and black inks, sponges and fingers.
I designed the base for my card and the “exploding heart” with cameo designer edition and cut it out using cameo silhouette machine. I also cut out the pieces to decorate the inside of the card. The inner exploding heart was an idea I found on Internet. If you don’t have cameo machine you can still make it please watch a video by Kelly Gettelfinger how to:

STEP 1
You start with cutting out all the elements:
The base, the “exploding” heart, pieces to decorate the inside and outside of the card.
STEP 2
Next, you move on to painting the base with “black soot” distress paint, let it dry and paint with other colours using stencils as well, make it funky. Let it dry between the layers. Use Treasure Gold to highlight the phrase on the side of the card. Paint the “hardware” pieces: hinges, locker and the key using the same techniques.
STEP 3
Decorate the “exploding heart” with colour scheme coordinated pieces of designer paper and embellishments.
STEP 4
Once you’re happy with your decorations glue the hinges to the base and next the “exploding” heart.
STEP 5
Attach all the pieces of “hardware” to the front of the card and finish decorating.Your card is ready to share it with a loved one.
