Another stroll down the quays by the Seine. I looked down those stairs that lead to the boats moored by the quays and there it was… dead rose. The harshness of the concrete stairs and delicacy of the blossom  created interesting contrast. Steps divided canvas into fields and I positioned the flower according to the rule of thirds (imagine tic-tac-toe grid). I didn‚Äôt like the gray colour of the stairs and decided to tone the photograph sepia to give it a bit of warmness and accentuate the texture.  I really like the way the picture has turned out. It is quite arty and painting like.
