Tag for July

Hi there,

It has been a while since my last post but there’s been a lot happening and unfortunately not all good. First things first, about month ago we had some freakish hailstorm and ice size of tennis balls destroyed part of our roof. Unfortunately my art room is on the top and due to some water damage I was unable to connect to my computer or to do some art. It has been hard but fortunately things are slowly going back to normal and although not all is fixed as yet, our roof is waterproof and I was able to set up back to do some art… yippee!
Well… as I said not all was doom and gloom. I got to spend three weeks in Ireland and relax a little after the disaster. It has been so wonderful to see some old friends, visit my favourite places, see some theatre, listen to buskers on the streets, and just stroll around and take lots of pictures. I was so lucky with the weather – blue sky almost all the time! I even got some suntan .

I’m back to France now and catching up with stuff.

I wanted to celebrate “new opening of my craft room” with something special so I have for you a tag I’ve made for monthly challenge at UGH Gallery and in July we ought to add lace.
To make the tag I got to use my new arrival to the crafting media… GELATOS.
I LOVE THEM. They are such fun to use and to create with. I used them for a background and the colours are so vibrant and they react so beautifully with water.

To make my tag I used:

Watercolour paper for the base of the tag;
Stamps: CraftOrigine “Dentelle2”; Carabelle Studio “Un d’Ange”;Hampton Art “So Feisty!”
Gelatos;
Die cut Tim Holtz “Heart Wings” and “Tag & Bookplate”;
Clear embossing powder, Black Archival Ink, Versa Mark ink, scraps of card stock, black lace, decorative brad, Prima paper flower, glue, glue dots and 3D foam;

I stamped my Lace image and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. I rubbed some Gelatos on the tag and blended them using my finger, next I sprayed them with water mist to blend and mix the colours even more. Great stuff, they come off the embossed image very easily! On the picture you can also see few stamped dragonflies I also used Gelatos on the stamp misted with water. I love the almost pained effect they create.

I hope that you can see on the stamped image the light colouring I made with Gelatos. I really love the effect, the colours I used for girl’s face were: Peach, Blood Orange and light blue from “50’s Diner” set just to highlight some features: eyes, lips, cheek. They work also on black surfaces, I coloured wings with Iced Chai that is a metallic colour.

Two more pictures so you can see how it all came together.

I hope you like my July tag and I can promise you more interesting stuff with Gelatos. I have to finally get my camera to work and prepare some tutorials.

For now, happy crafting and see you soon. 🙂
