Paris Version Scrap 2013 Retrospective

Hi there,

Today I want to share with you impressions after Paris Version Scrap 2013 the International Show of Scrapbooking.
It has been a great weekend full of interesting workshops and multitude of showcases from all over France and Europe.
This year I discovered new brand of cool vintage stamps, stencils and masks from Carabelle Studio, got lot’s of paper at a bargain price, got those amazing Fresco acrylics from PaperArtsy and selection of their wonderful and inspiring stamps, and most of all, for the first time I participated in workshops led by some of my favourite craft “celebrities”. 😉
The workshops for me were the highlight of the event.

First one was with Paula Cheney from 7gypsies and “Distress Magic”.
We all love distress inks don’t we? Paula’s project was simple but clever and she explained well all the techniques for using the Distress Inks, Distress Stain and Perfect Pearls Mists. I was already familiar with the products, but it has been interesting to see her working live. The mini book we created is my memory book from this year’s Salon. (I will show you finished project very soon).

Thank you Paula, it was so nice to meet you in person. I will continue visiting your blog and can’t wait to see more of your inspiring creations.

My second workshop was with Leandra Franish from PaperArtsy and we got to play with paints and new Jofy stamps collection (for the products check out their website).
I love to get my hands dirty with paints and the Fresco acrylics are so versatile. I loved the techniques that Leandra showed us but at the back of my head I thought of using them with my jelly prints and especially the translucent colours. Yippee! I’m going to get busy with making prints , they should make cool background to use with the stamps!

Thank you Leandra it was so nice to meet you in person and create art with you. I’m looking forward to new tutorials and inspired challenges.

One more exciting feature was participation in Monumental Scrap project. Fiji and Titti from Give Your Scrap blog managed to collect about a hundred of canvases from people like myself – donating their scrap; and make a great art installation with our works. The idea was to use b&w photographs proposed by humanitarian organisation and create a 20×20 cm canvas including hint of one of four colours: yellow, ochre, blue or khaki. It was very impressive and moving to see all those great ideas put together. Well done everyone! The art is for sale and money will be given to the humanitarian organisation that offered the photos.
